Past Continuous Tense (Hindi to English)
Past continuous tense का अर्थ होता है जब कोई कार्य Past ( भूतकाल) में ” लगातार चल रहा था “ या फिर आप ऐसा बोल सकते है
जो काम past में हमारे बोलते समय चल रहा था या हो रहा था उस काम को हम बताने के लिए हम Past Continuous Tense का इस्तेमाल करते है इस tense को हम अपूर्ण भूतकाल के नाम से भी जानते है |
Past Continuous Tense की पहचान
जिन हिंदी वाक्यों के अंत में रहा था / रहे थे / रही थी / किया जा रहा था / किये जा रहे थे इत्यादि लगा होता है ऐसे हिंदी के वाक्यों को अंग्रेजी में बनाने के लिए हमे Past continuous Tense का इस्तेमाल करना पड़ता है |
या फिर कोई भी काम अगर past में हो रहा था तो उसको English Translate करने के लिए (Hindi to English) हम Past continuous Tense को प्रयोग करते है | जैसे
राहुल अंग्रेजी पढ़ रहा था : Rahul was studying English.
मैं चाय पी रहा था – I was drinking Tea.
ललित अपनी मम्मी को बुला रहा था – Lalit is calling his mother.
Past Continuous Tense के नियम | Rules of past continuous tense in English
past Continuous Tense में वाक्य बनाने के लिए हमे Subject , Was / Were और Verb की 1st form में “Ing” की जरूरत पड़ेगी जिसको हम निचे दिए गये क्रम अनुसार लगायेगे |
- Simple sentence = Subject + was/were + V4 OR V1+ing + object + Other words + Other words.
- negative sentence = Subject + was/were + not + V4 OR V1+ing + object + Other words.
- interrogative sentence = Was/ Were + subject + V4 OR V1+ing + object + Other words?
- interro-negative sentence = Was/ Were + subject + not + V4 OR V1+ing + object + Other words?
उदाहरण देखने से पहले was , were में फर्क देख लीजिये
- was का प्रयोग I, He, She, It, Name के साथ होता है
- Were का प्रयोग बहुवचन और You , We, They के साथ होता है
जैसे:-

ऊपर दिए हुए नियम के अनुसार आपको ऐसे ही अपने subject और Helping verb was/were का इस्तेमाल करना है
Past Continuous Tense में वाक्य कैसे बनाये
Helping Verb – पास्ट कंटीन्यूअस टेंस में समय को बताने के लिए की हमारा वाक्य Past / भूतकाल का है इसके लिए हम Helping Verb के रूप में Was और were का प्रयोग करते है. और was, were का प्रयोग हम Helping verb के रूप में subject के अनुसार करते है |
Was का प्रयोग – वाक्य में Third Person Singular Subject (He, she , It ) and I के साथ was लगाना चाहिए |
Were का प्रयोग – वाक्य में Third Person Singular Subject (He, she , It ) and I को छोडकर जो बच जाता है जैसे You, We, They इनके साथ Were लगाना चाहिए |
Main Verb – पास्ट कंटीन्यूअस टेंस में Main Verb ( मुख्य काम ) की V4 OR V1+ing form का प्रयोग करना चाहिए

Past Continuous Tense में हम और Tenses की तरह ही चार प्रकार के वाक्य बनाते है |
- (सकारात्मक वाक्य) Simple sentence
- (नकारात्मक वाक्य) Negative sentence
- (प्रश्नवाचक वाक्य) Interrogative sentence
- (नकारात्मक प्रश्नवाचक वाक्य) Negative Interrogative sentence
Simple sentence (सकारात्मक वाक्य) of Past Continuous Tense
1. I was playing basketball in the morning.
मैं सुबह बास्केटबॉल खेल रहा था।
2. Neha was eating when I met her.
जब मैंने नेहा से मिला, तब वह खाना खा रही थी।
3. Rahul was attending a workshop during that time.
उस समय राहुल एक वर्कशॉप में शामिल था।
4. Ria was going to school in her car.
रिया अपनी कार में स्कूल जा रही थी।
5. I was presenting a presentation to my mother.
मैं माँ को एक प्रस्तुति प्रस्तुत कर रहा था।
6. My parents were celebrating their 25th anniversary.
मेरे माता-पिता अपनी 25वीं सालगिरह मना रहे थे।
7. They were arguing with the teacher.
उन्होंने शिक्षक से झगड़ा किया था।
8. Children were dancing on the stage.
बच्चे मंच पर नृत्य कर रहे थे।
9. My friends were playing cricket without me.
मेरे दोस्त मेरे बिना क्रिकेट खेल रहे थे।
10. They were attending a dance class organized by Mr Robert.
वे श्री रॉबर्ट द्वारा आयोजित एक नृत्य कक्षा में शामिल थे।
Negative sentence Examples -(नकारात्मक वाक्य) of Past continuous Tense
1. I was not playing basketball in the morning.
मैं सुबह बास्केटबॉल नहीं खेल रहा था।

Passive voice of Past continuous tense in Hindi
- उसे भेजा जा रहा था – He was being sent.
- मुझे पढाया जा रहा था – I was being taught.
- उसे बुलाया जा रहा था – He was being called.
